Charlotte Team Announces New Name
September 15, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Charlotte, NC. The ABA expansion team entry for Charlotte, North Carolina for the 2009-2010 season has chosen the name The Charlotte Crossover following a contest open to the community and supported by popular local radio station, Power 98, and No Limit Larry, JD and Tone-X. The team also received support from News 14. According to Michelle Pierre, team VP, "We are very pleased with the support we're receiving from the community and from the media. In fact, The Score, a popular sports station in Charlotte, has even offered to team up with us to help purchase book bags and other school items. This is fun."
"While we don't begin play until next season," Ms. Pierre added, "we are doing a lot of things now to build excitement and momentum and have scheduled several events."
October 11 & 12: Madden '09 & Guitar Hero Tournament with The Score-Charlotte league in Charlotte.
October 18 - Co-sponsoring a basketball league in Charlotte with The Score-Charlotte.
October 25 & 26: Next tryouts at Vance High School.
