The Charlotte Eagles claimed back to back wins this weekend against the Charleston Battery. The Eagles claimed their second victory off a lone goal from Darryl Roberts in the 36th minute.
Charleston tested first in the 12 minute as Richter drilled a shot from just outside the box. Reed read it and was able to make the save.
In the 36th minute Cheyne Roberts crossed a ball into the box and Darryl Roberts volleyed the ball into the net putting the Eagles ahead 1-0.
The pressure was on as Charleston had a number of close chances just as the half was ending.
Halftime 1-0 Charlotte.
The game opened up a bit during the second half. The Eagles, instead of sitting back, were hungry for a second goal.
With 70 minutes gone, Charleston continued to have their chances and felt the pressure to equalize.
Jorge Herrera, put the scare on Charleston in the 71st minute as he had a break on goal but hit the goal post.
The Battery returned the favor almost immediately on the counter attack. After consecutive shots on goal, the Eagles back line were able to clear the ball away.
Reed stepped up multiple time as the game waned into its final minutes keeping the Eagles ahead 1-0.
Charleston did everything they could to find the equalizer but to no avail. The Eagles found victory 1-0.
