Charlotte Sting News Release
Charlotte Sting star Andrea Stinson will spread holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 23 by hosting
"A Very Stinson Christmas," marking the event's fourth year. Stinson will visit a group of children at the Rock Hill Children's Attention Home and read the holiday classic "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement C. Moore.
The Rock Hill Children's Attention Home was selected as the winner of "A Very Stinson Christmas" from dozens of essays received through a contest on the Sting's official website, www.charlottesting.com. Fans were invited to submit essays on why Stinson should visit their home for the holidays. Stinson will read the classic story and distribute special gifts, which include an autographed basketball, Charlotte Sting t-shirts and other surprises for the children.
Serving as a refuge for abused, abandoned and neglected children of all ages from York, Chester, Lancaster and surrounding counties, the Rock Hill Children's Attention Home has provided shelter for more than 5,000 children since its inception in 1970.
Stinson, an original member of the Sting and three-time WNBA All-Star, is currently playing in Turkey during the WNBA offseason but will be back in Charlotte for the holidays. She has played in every game in franchise history, scoring over 3,000 points in her eight year career. A native of Cornelius, NC, Stinson has also been recognized for her outstanding work in the community and has received the WNBA's Community Assist Award three times in her career.
