July 23, 2004 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Charlotte Sting News Release
Charlotte Sting forward Allison Feaster has been selected to the team of WNBA All-Stars that will take on the U.S. National Team on August 5 for "WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Game at Radio City." Feaster will face off against Dawn Staley, her Sting teammate for the past four years, who will lead the U.S. National Team in a tune-up before heading to the Athens Olympics.
"I'm very honored to be named to the team of WNBA All-Stars. It's an excellent opportunity to represent the Charlotte Sting on a national stage in New York City." said Feaster. "A lot of players dream about becoming an All-Star, but very few players are actually selected. Playing against Dawn and the entire Olympic team is what I am most looking forward to."
A native of Chester, South Carolina, Feaster is in her seventh WNBA season after attending Harvard University. She leads the Sting in scoring with 12.1 points per game and ranks among league leaders in points per game, field-goal percentage, free throw percentage and minutes per game.
Feaster was selected as a reserve by the WNBA's coaches and will be joined by Becky Hammon (New York), Mwadi Mabika (Los Angeles), Natalie Williams (Indiana) and Deanna Nolan (Detroit). The starters were voted on by the national media and include Nikki Teasley (Los Angeles), Anna DeForge (Phoenix), Taj McWilliams-Franklin (Connecticut), Nykesha Sales (Connecticut) and Cheryl Ford (Detroit).
For the first time, fans from around the world will select the final player on the WNBA All-Star roster through balloting conducted on WNBA.com's new, comprehensive section devoted to the "WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Game at Radio City." Balloting began Thursday evening, July 22, and the final reserve will be announced on-air during coverage of the Los Angeles at Sacramento game on July 29 on ESPN2.
