Charlotte Sting News Release

As part of their on-going Breast Health Awareness initiative, the Charlotte Sting will team up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for two events around town this week.

On Thursday, September 30, Sting General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey will be a guest speaker at the Think Pink Party hosted by Noble's Restaurant. Designed to honor breast cancer survivors, the Think Pink Party will feature a menu by Chef Jimmy Noble as well as entertainment by The Sinatra Experience. All money raised at the party will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Think Pink Party will begin at 5:30 p.m. and take place at Noble's Restaurant (6801 Morrison Boulevard in Charlotte). Individuals can get more information or make reservations for the event by calling 704-367-9463.

On Saturday, October 2, Lacey will be joined by Sting front office staff and fans in participating in the eighth annual Susan G. Komen Foundation Race For The Cure in Uptown Charlotte. The race will begin at 8 a.m. at the intersection of Third and Tryon Street. This will mark the second consecutive year "Team Sting" has participated in the race.

As the largest running and walking event in Charlotte, the Komen Race For The Cure uses the money received from entry fees and pledges to aid in the fight against breast cancer.

Individuals interested in participating in the Race For The Cure can visit www.komencharlotte.org for more information.

The Breast Health Awareness program is a key component of the WNBA and Charlotte Sting's community outreach efforts. This program works to generate awareness and educate women on what can be done to fight breast cancer in addition to raising funds for the initiative. The WNBA and its teams have raised nearly $2,000,000 to aid in the fight against breast cancer.
