
Charlotte Sting To Host WNBA Draft Parties This Weekend

April 13, 2004 - The Charlotte Sting will host two separate viewing parties this Saturday, April 17 in conjunction with the 2004 WNBA Draft. The Sting hold the #3 overall pick as well as the 18th, 22nd and 35th selections in the three-round draft, which begins at 12:00 EST.
All members of the media are invited to the Bobcats Basketball Center in Ft. Mill, SC, from 11:30 a.m. â 3:00 p.m. to watch the draft unfold. Sting General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey will leave the "war room" and be available for interviews following the first and third round. In addition, the #3 pick will participate in a live conference call from New York City at approximately 1:30 p.m. Lunch and press materials will be provided. Fans are invited to attend a viewing party at Jocks and Jills (4109 Southstream Blvd., off of Tyvola Rd.) from 11:30 a.m. â 3:00 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to win prizes, purchase orange and blue merchandise, sign a welcome card for the newest member of the Charlotte Sting and follow along for all three rounds of the 2004 WNBA Draft.
This year's WNBA Draft has been touted as one of the most talented and deepest in the history of women's basketball. The first round begins at 12:00 EST and will be aired on ESPN. The second and third rounds follow on NBA TV.
The Charlotte Sting will open their eighth season of WNBA action on Friday, May 21 at the Charlotte Coliseum as they host the four-time WNBA champion Houston Comets.
