Charlotte Sting Announce 2004 Preseason Schedule

The Charlotte Sting announced the team's three-game preseason schedule today as a prelude to the WNBA's eighth season. The preseason schedule is highlighted by a contest against the Chinese National Team, which will also compete against Dawn Staley and the USA Basketball Women's Senior National Team later this summer at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

On Sunday, May 9, Charlotte will tip off the preseason against the Indiana Fever inside Butler University's Hinkle Fieldhouse at 4 p.m. The Sting will then host the Washington Mystics on Friday, May 14 at 7 p.m. before squaring off against the Chinese National Team three days before the regular season opener. Both home games will be played at the Bobcats Basketball Center in Ft. Mill, SC.

The Sting will host the Chinese National Team on Tuesday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. in an "open practice" setting that will include free admission for all fans. The Chinese National Team will conclude its three-game tour in Charlotte following games against the Connecticut Sun and Detroit Shock.

Ticket prices for the preseason game vs. Washington and for all regular season games will be announced at a later date. The complete 2004 Sting preseason schedule follows:

The Charlotte Sting will open their eighth season of WNBA action on Friday, May 21 at the Charlotte Coliseum as they host the four-time WNBA champion Houston Comets.
