Charlotte Eagles News Release
Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles (12-4-2, 38 pts) host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (5-9-2, 17 pts) on Saturday night, August 6th, in the Eagles last home game of the regular season. Charlotte has already clinched one of the four spots in the USL Second Division playoffs, but with such a tight playoff race, seeding for the tournament is still up in the air. Kickoff for Saturday night's match is set for 7:30 pm at Waddell Stadium.
Charlotte and Pittsburgh have met just once so far this season. Back on June 4th the Eagles defeated the Riverhounds 2-0 on the road in Pittsburgh. Although Pittsburgh did not qualify for postseason play, they would still like to finish off the season strongly and push closer to that .500 mark. The Riverhounds face the Wilmington Hammerheads tonight in Wilmington, so Charlotte will have the advantage of being better rested. Pittsburgh will be missing three players who are serving suspensions from the July 30th game in Wilmington.
The Charlotte Eagles have a five game unbeaten streak going. Last weekend the Eagles were on the road defeating Northern Virginia 3-1 and Long Island 3-0. Jacob Coggins continues to lead the league in goals with 13 and total points with 30. Lately, first year Eagle Ricardo Ordain has been a standout "super sub", scoring four goals in the last three games.
Tickets for Saturday night's game at Waddell Stadium can be purchased at the gate: Adults $8.00, Students (6-18) $5.00. Children five and under FREE. For more information visit the Charlotte Eagles website at www.CharlotteEagles.com or call the Ticket Line (704) 841-8644 x 32.
Playoff Outlook
The Charlotte Eagles have clinched a playoff berth. The league semi-finals will consist of a two game, total goal series to be played home and away the week of August 17-20. The Eagles will play at home either Thursday, August 18 or Saturday, August 20 against either the Harrisburg City Islanders, Western Mass Pioneers or the Wilmington Hammerheads. Charlotte Semi Final Playoff Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $7 for youth 6-18 and free for children 5 and under. Tickets bought in advance are $8 for adults and $5 for youth.
