Charlie Adams Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

SAN DIEGO - San Diego Loyal SC midfielder Charlie Adams was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for his performances in the club's 1-0 win against Monterey Bay FC on Aug. 10.
Adams was an integral part of the SD Loyal midfield as he helped distribute passes as the team tried to penetrate a stingy Monterey Bay defense for most of the Week 23 match. The Englishman has played in 19 matches, starting in 17 and recorded 1,475 minutes this season. He has scored four goals while adding five assists, second best on the team. Adams has been a key spot in set pieces, sending pin-point passes on important game situations throughout the season.
Against Monterey Bay, Adams converted the game-winning penalty kick to lift SD Loyal 1-0 over the visitors from Northern California. He also completed 39 of 42 passes while winning 3 of 3 duels to solidify SD Loyal's second-place position in the Western Conference.
Adams is the ninth SD Loyal player to be named to the USL Championship's team of the week. Tumi Moshobane and Alejandro Guido made their first appearances early in the season. Forward Kyle Vassell was named in April before Moshobane and Guido received their second honors in July. Grant Stoneman, Collin Martin and Koke Vegas were each named to last week's eleven.
SD Loyal now heads into its next match, a Western Conference road affair against El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday (6:30 p.m.). SD Loyal returns home after that for an Aug. 24 match against Oakland Roots SC. Tickets to SD Loyal's last match of the summer are available now at sdloyal.com/tickets.
