Charleston Battery Defeats Clemson as Pre-Season Continues

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery defeated Clemson University 5-0 in a pre-season scrimmage played on Saturday afternoon at Clemson. After leading 1-0 at half-time the Battery scored four second half goals to take the victory. The win follows on from the Battery's 3-0 win versus the College of Charleston in a game played last Thursday.

2012 USL PRO Rookie of the Year Jose Cuevas opened the scoring for the Battery in the first half with the assist credited to midfielder Ryan Richer. The second half goals were scored by Austin Savage, Zach Prince, Gibson Bardsley and Jarad vanSchaik.

The Charleston Battery continues its pre-season schedule tomorrow night with an 8 PM match vs, Georgia Southern at Blackbaud Stadium. On Thursday Charleston will take on Coastal Carolina at 6 PM; that game will also be held at Blackbaud Stadium.

All preseason home games are free to attend except for Saturday, March 23 versus Wilmington Hammerheads; tickets for this rematch of the 2012 USL PRO Championship game will be $7 for bleacher seats and $12 for club seats with group discounts available through the Battery ticket office.
