Charge Take Part in Villanova Turf Unveiling
April 3, 2002 - Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA)
Philadelphia Charge News Release
The Philadelphia Charge will be taking part in the Villanova Stadium turf unveiling ceremony on Thursday, April 4 at noon at Villanova Stadium. After a brief ceremony that will include the Charge players, coaches and General Manager Tim Murphy, all media representatives will be invited onto the new AstroPlay surface to take part in various skills challenges with the Charge and Villanova's football, field hockey and lacrosse teams.
The new surface was installed this winter and is ready for the Charge season. Last year the stadium had Astroturf and was not a favorable surface for soccer. The drainage is superior to Astroturf and the cushioning is comparable to a natural surface.
The Charge play their pre-season finale against the New York Power this Sunday, April 7 at 6 p.m. at Indian Hills High School in Oakland, NJ. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the event.
The Charge kick off the 2002 WUSA season Saturday, April 13 in Atlanta against the Beat at 7 p.m. The club then travels to New York on Saturday, April 27 to face the Power at 7:00 p.m. before making its home debut on Saturday, May 4 against the Boston Breakers starting at 7 p.m. For season or group ticket information call 215-467-GOAL or log on to www.philadelphiacharge.com.
