Charge Playoff Tickets to Go on Sale to Public Thursday

VILLANOVA, PA (Wednesday, July 31, 2002) - The Philadelphia Charge announced today that tickets for the club's possible home playoff game at Villanova Stadium on Saturday, August 17 go on sale to the public Thursday, August 1 at 9:00 am. Group tickets or the popular Family Four Pack -- which includes four tickets, four slices of pizza and four sodas -- can be purchased by calling the Charge ticket office at 215-467-GOAL or individual tickets can be purchased by calling your local Ticketmaster outlet.
Tickets can also be purchased at Villanova Stadium during the two remaining Charge home games. Philadelphia hosts the San Diego Spirit this Saturday, August 3 and then plays its regular-season home finale on Wednesday, August 7 versus the defending Founders Cup Champion San Jose CyberRays. The ticket windows open at noon for both games.
"We want our fans to be able to have ample opportunity to plan for the playoffs," Charge general manager Tim Murphy said. "By putting tickets on sale Thursday, this gives them that chance."
The Charge can qualify for the postseason for a second straight season tonight with a win or a tie in San Jose against the CyberRays. The game can be seen live on CN8 at 10 p.m. A loss by the Washington Freedom against the Carolina Courage tonight would also clinch a playoff spot for Philadelphia. In addition, the Charge can wrap up homefield advantage for the semifinal round with a win and an Atlanta loss. The Beat visit the San Diego Spirit tonight.
The top four teams in the eight-team WUSA qualify for the playoffs, with the top two seeds hosting a semifinal round game on Saturday, August 17. Game time will be at either 1:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. (Times subject to change).
Founders Cup II, which is the league championship game, will be on Saturday, August 24 at Atlanta's Herndon Stadium on the campus of Morris Brown College. For tickets to Founders Cup II call Ticketmaster at 404-249-6400 or call 1-877-SOCCER1 for group tickets.
