Change a Diaper, Change a Life

March 10, 2009 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA, March 10, 2009 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today that the team will collect financial donations at the club's contest versus the Baltimore Blast on Saturday, March 14. All proceeds from the collections will benefit CityTeam Ministries, located in Chester, PA. The donation bins will be located at various points throughout the Wachovia Spectrum concourse or donate directly online at http://www.cityteam.org/donate.

"CityTeam Ministries is currently experiencing a 30% increase in families in need of support," stated Macaira Koch, CityTeam Development Officer. "The majority of our clients are single mothers who make less than $10,000 per year. Diapers are an expense that is not covered by a supplementary program available to those in need. That is why we are so grateful for the Philadelphia KiXX organization and their fans that are generously supporting us in the 'Change a Diaper, Change a Life' campaign," added Koch.

The average newborn parent spends nearly $600 per year on diapers. Currently, CityTeam distributes diapers to nearly 150 children per month. In 2008 alone, CityTeam distributed over 40,000 diapers to parents in need.

The Philadelphia KiXX have also partnered with FromDovetoStorks.com, an internet-based company that creates custom made gifts for all occasions, specializing in gifts for Brides and Babies. From Dove to Storks will be contributing several hundred diapers along with other essential baby products including bottles, diaper creams. The organization also offers a recovery program for those men that are on the road of destruction from drugs and alcohol.
