February 12, 2021 - Canadian Premier League (CPL) - FC Edmonton News Release

EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton and Club de Foot Montréal of Major League Soccer (MLS) have reached a loan agreement for midfielder Tomas Giraldo without a right to recall for the 2021 season, the club announced today.

Giraldo (6'0 , 163 pounds) was born in Medellin, Colombia and came to Canada at the age of eight. He joined the Montréal Impact U13 Academy in 2015, after playing with FSS Salaberry. Following his time with the Academy, Giraldo signed his first professional contract as an off-roster player with Montréal for the 2020 season.

"We are excited to add Tomas to our squad for the season," said Alan Koch, Head Coach. "He is a young player with excellent experience with Montréal and their MLS environment, and with the Canadian youth national team program. He is a technically sound midfielder who we anticipate will come in and compete for playing time immediately."

The 17-year-old also took part in his first Canada Men's U17 National Team camp in 2019, before taking part in the CONCACAF U17 Championship and the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil, also in 2019.
