Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - This Friday (06/10/2022), as part of the GreenStone Farm Credit Services Ag Night, the stars of Nat Geo WILD's "The Incredible Dr. Pol," will be visiting Turtle Creek Stadium for the Traverse City Pit Spitters game vs. the Kokomo Jackrabbits!

Dr. Jan Pol, his wife Diane, and producer/son Charles will all be in attendance for the game. The trio will throw ceremonial first pitches and participate in some of the fun between-inning promotions during the game.

Game time is 7:05 p.m. and the gates open at 6:00 p.m. In addition to the appearance, Pit Spitters fans will be treated to a spectacular post-game show as the memorable and Human Cannonball will propel himself from a cannon and then the sky will light up with a great fireworks show!

Dr. Jan Pol is not your typical veterinarian. Born and raised in the Netherlands on his family's dairy farm, he is the charismatic and world-renowned star of Nat Geo WILD's #1 hit series, "The Incredible Dr. Pol." 2021 marked a special milestone for Dr. Pol - his 50th anniversary in veterinary medicine!

Dr. Pol's son Charles was his constant sidekick as a child and helped in the clinic and on farm calls starting at the age of 5. Although he knew from an early age that he didn't want to follow in his father's professional footsteps, Charles has great admiration for his father and his work. Charles has worked in Hollywood in the entertainment industry, and in 2011 he convinced his father to allow him and his filmmaker friends to do a documentary on Dr. Pol, which ultimately led to the concept for the television series, "The Incredible Dr. Pol."

The show is "the no-nonsense, Dutch American doctor who can fashion a goat's leg splint out of parts from an old apple barrel" (LA Times) - Dr. Jan Pol proves that there isn't much he hasn't seen or done in a half century of practicing animal medicine. In Nat Geo WILD's #1 series "The Incredible Dr. Pol," every day presents new surprises for Dr. Pol and his staff at Pol Veterinary Services as they wrangle animals and tackle tricky problems at their clinic in Weidman, Michigan. With some surprising and complicated cases, heart-warming moments and dramatic situations, "The Incredible Dr. Pol" is always a wild ride.

In "The Incredible Dr. Pol," viewers have the opportunity to travel with Dr. Pol across rural Michigan, as he tirelessly cares for every family pet and herd of livestock in need of his expertise and kindness. Unflappable and unstoppable, Dr. Pol routinely puts in 14-hour days making farm calls and treating patients in his very busy clinic. The 21st season of the show will debut in July on Nat Geo WILD, and all previous seasons are available in the U.S. and internationally on Disney Plus!

When Dr. Pol isn't working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Diane discovering new and exotic destinations, scuba diving in the Caribbean and traveling across Europe. He is a fan of European Football and follows the Dutch team, as well as American soccer. He is fluent in four languages - English, Dutch, German and French.

A firm believer in spaying and neutering animals, Dr. Pol continues to be active with his local philanthropic organizations 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America), non-profit charities that help teach young adults how to take proper care of animals. He believes that children who are taught to take care of animals at a young age make better adults.

Tickets for this and all Pit Spitters home game can be purchased at the Pit Spitters website - PitSpitters.com. The Turtle Creek Stadium Box Office is open for in-person transactions Monday - Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
