Celebrity Coaches To Battle

Two long time Tulsa broadcasters, who have chronicled the triumphs of the Tulsa Oilers over the years, will square off as opposing coaches in Saturday' American Airlines alumni game at the Oilers Ice Center (64th and Mingo) at 7 p.m.

Al Jerkens, sports director at KJRH channel 2, will coach one team and Chris Lincoln, sports director at KTUL channel 8 will coach the other squad.

While the two will be opponents Saturday, they team up every Tuesday on AM 1550 and 97.1 FM, The Sports Animal from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. when Lincoln co-hosts the Middle of the Day Show, which Jerkens hosts Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

"It's great that Chris and Al are going to coach against each other," Oilers general manager Taylor Hall said. "There are some big time bragging rights on the line Saturday night."

Tickets for this year's alumni game are $10 in advance for Oilers season ticket holders, $20 for non-season ticket holders. All tickets at the door will be $20. The admission will include the postgame party with the players. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Oilers, and Hall encourages fans to get their tickets early.

The Oilers start the CHL regular season on Friday October 16th at Mississippi. The home opener for the Oilers in their 18th CHL season will be Saturday October 24th at 7:35 against the Wichita Thunder.
