Chicago, IL - Wilmington Sea Dawgs forward Cedric McGinnis was named PBL Player of the Week on Tuesday.
McGinnis, a 6-9 forward from Georgia Southern University, received Player of the Week honors as he averaged 25.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 1.0 bpg while shooting 68.2% from the field in two games this week.
"I'm happy to receive the PBL player of the week," said McGinnis. "Without the hard work and dedication of my teammates it wouldn't be possible for me to get this award. I'd like to thank them for pushing me during practice and creating a fun atmosphere to play basketball."
McGinnis helped the Sea Dawgs to a perfect 2-0 week, which included a 103-98 win over the Buffalo Stamped where he scored a season-high 29 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and a 111-101 victory over the defending PBL Champion Rochester RazorSharks where he scored 22 points.
Head Coach Dale Kuhl stated, "This is a well deserving honor for Cedric, as well as our team, and is a reflection of the hard work he has demonstrated over the past three games."
McGinnis has scored at least 20 points in all of Sea Dawgs five games this season and ranks sixth in the league in scoring with at 23.0 ppg.
"The Wilmington Sea Dawgs organization is excited to have Cedric back this year," said Sea Dawgs General Manager Billy Whittington. "He has been a top performer for us both on the court and within the community. He is one of our leaders in the locker room and a great role model for the youth of Wilmington."
Other nominee's included Desmond Ferguson of the Manchester Millrats, Rashi Johnson of the Battle Creek Knights, John Williams of the Vermont Frost Heaves, Rob Sanders of the Halifax Rainmen and Lamar Castile of the Buffalo Stampede.
