Cedric De Grandpre Named Southern League Pitcher of the Month for July

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Minor League Baseball today named former Columbus Clingstones right-hander Cedric De Grandpre the Southern League Pitcher of the Month for July, making him the first player in franchise history to earn a monthly league award.

The honor marks the first monthly award of De Grandpre's professional career. He is the fourth clingstones pitcher to receive league recognition this season, joining Brett Sears, Herick Hernandez, and Lucas Braun, who each earned Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors.

De Grandpre posted a 3-0 record with a 1.13 ERA in four starts in July with Columbus. He allowed only three earned runs across 24.0 innings, recording 29 strikeouts and three quality starts. Among Southern League pitchers in July, De Grandpre led in wins (three), ERA (1.13), and WHIP (0.75), while finishing second in average against (.148).

Following his start on July 19 at Chattanooga, when he worked 7.0 innings and struck out seven, De Grandpre earned his first promotion to Triple-A Gwinnett. Across three levels this season, he is tied for the Minor League lead in wins (10) and ranks second in strikeouts (125).

De Grandpre, 24, was selected by Atlanta in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. He is currently ranked Atlanta's No. 24 prospect per MLB Pipeline.

The Clingstones continue their six-game homestand against the Biloxi Shuckers this week at Synovus Park, featuring four of Atlanta's Top 15 prospects, including No. 1 prospect Cam Caminiti, who is scheduled to start on Thursday, Aug. 6, along with No. 2 prospect Eric Hartman, No. 6 prospect John Gil, and No. 15 prospect Owen Carey.
