
CBA announces National Conference All-Stars

ALBANY, NY (January 16, 2008) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced the All-Stars for the National Conference. Ten players were selected by the head coaches and selected media representatives of the CBA.
The Yakama Sun Kings fans will be able to cheer four of their own players on the National Conference roster, as Jason Sasser, Desmond Ferguson, Jermaine Blackburn and Moochie Norris will represent the National Conference squad. Blackburn is averaging 11.3 ppg. and 4.7 rpg. for the Sun Kings. In his return to the CBA after a stint in the NBA, Sasser is putting up 18.7 ppg. and 8.7 rpg. for Yakama. Making his second appearance in the CBA All-Star Game, Ferguson is averaging 18.1 ppg. and has a league leading 63 three-pointers this season. Fan favorite Norris has been the steady force for the Sun Kings, dishing out a league leading 7.8 assists to go along with 10.6 ppg. Norris and Ferguson made the All-Star Classic squad for the second time in their careers.
Joining them will be Butte's Odell Bradley and rookie Aaron Cook. Bradley, making his second All-Star appearance, is a former player of the week and has added the interim head coaching duties to his resume. Bradley is averaging 26.6 ppg. while with Butte and 21.2 ppg. overall. Cook is providing the Daredevils with a steady hand all season long, averaging 13.3 ppg., 5.8 apg., and 3.2 rpg.
The Oklahoma Cavalry's Daryan Selvy and Marvin Phillips are both making their first All-Star appearance. Selvy has been the main scoring force, 23.3 ppg., good for second in the CBA. Phillips is pulling down 11.8 rpg., tied for first in the CBA with Amal McCaskill.
Nate Green of the Great Falls Explorers; and Demorris "Toby" Smith of the Rio Grande Valley Silverados are first time All-Stars. Green has been a steady force for the Explorers, 17.2 ppg., and 8.4 rpg. averages for the season. Smith has been the main scoring threat in the Valley since the departure of Mike Dean. Smith has the highest scoring output this season, scoring 45 points against Oklahoma on January 3.
"This is a great honor to not only coach this team, but also to be the head coach in your host city," said National Conference Head Coach Paul Woolpert. "We have an outstanding mix of talent and I am sure that the fans in Yakima will see an outstanding game."
