Cavalry FC News Release
Calgary, AB - Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League today announced the re-signing of 26-year-old defender Tom Field who returns to the club following a successful stint with Calgary Foothills FC. The London-born former Brentford FC and Republic of Ireland youth international defender has signed for the remainder of the 2023 season with a 2024 club option.
Field was a member of the 2021 and 2022 seasons where he made a total of 12 appearances for Cavalry FC across all competitions before unfortunately being ruled out due to injury. In 2023, Field joined League1 Alberta side Calgary Foothills FC, where he captained the side and helped in leading them to winning the league's inaugural exhibition season with an undefeated record as he regained his fitness.
"We use the word character a lot around our club and Tom optimizes exactly that," said Tommy Wheeldon Jr., Head Coach & General Manager, Cavalry FC. "Tom has had a tough couple of years and setbacks with injuries and he's shown incredible resolve to return to fitness and find his love for the game again. He's a very intelligent defender that reads the game very well, has an excellent passing range and gives us great depth on the left-side."
Cavalry FC will face Valour FC on Friday, August 11th on IG Field at 6:00 p.m. MT. Field has been included within the 18-man squad and will travel to Winnipeg as the club continues its title charge.
