
Catfish Schedule in Place for 2007 Season

Columbus, GA - The Columbus Catfish have finalized the 2007 schedule. The standard 140-game South Atlantic League schedule will include 70 home games and 70 away games. The season will begin with a home game at Golden Park at Thursday, April 5 against the Kannapolis Intimidators (Chicago White Sox). The 2007 season will be the first for the Catfish as an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
The Catfish will celebrate numerous holidays at Golden Park during 2007. The Intimidators will visit Easter Sunday, April 8. The Rome Braves (Atlanta Braves) will visit on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13. The Savannah Sand Gnats will visit for a 2pm meeting on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28. The Catfish will play the Charleston RiverDogs (New York Yankees) at 6pm on Independence Day, July 4.
The Catfish faced each of their upcoming opponents at least once during the 2006 season. Three primary division rivals make up a large portion of the schedule. The Catfish will play 31 games (17 at home) against Charleston, 26 games (17 at home) against Rome, and 24 games (12 at home) against Savannah. The Catfish posted a winning record of 45-39 (.536) against those teams in 2006.
Catfish fans will see two teams that did not play in Columbus during 2006. The West Virginia Power (Milwaukee Brewers) will visit July 30-August 2 and the Lexington Legends (Houston Astros) will visit August 3-6.
The Augusta GreenJackets (San Francisco Giants), reigning SAL Southern Division Champions, will visit Columbus for a four-game series April 17-20. The Catfish will stop in Augusta twice, May 8-11 and July 24-28.
The SAL will take a respite after the first half for the All-Star Game Extravaganza in Rome from June 18-20. The exhibition contest highlighting the break will take place at State Mutual Stadium on Tuesday, June 19.
Standard start time for Catfish home games Monday through Saturday is 7pm. The games on April 18 and June 5 will begin at 11am. Sunday home games through June 3 will start at 2pm. Beginning on June 24 and throughout the rest of the season Sunday home games will begin at 6pm. Gates open one hour prior to each game.
