Rockford Thunder News Release
When the season ended I moved back to Florida Southern to finish my Masters in Education, which I will finish in May. I also continued working for the wellness programs at the college. I am blessed to attend the same college as my sister Morgan. Unlike some sisters we are best friends and really enjoy spending time with each other and hanging out when we have time.
I enjoy training and pitching as Florida has the perfect weather for off-season training. I am blessed with a great personal trainer, so my workouts are based on areas which need improvement and the list of goals I have set for myself. I also work weekly with my pitching coach and pitch as many days a week as possible. I should give credit to my sister who is willing to catch for me under the conditions that I not throw full speed, drop balls, and that I preferably keep to change ups.
Over Christmas break I was excited to spend about three weeks with my family in Georgia. We had so much fun visiting and laughing with each other. My family has many rich traditions around the holidays. On Christmas Eve Maw Maw and Paw Paw (my mom's Parents) and Granny (my Dad's Mom) came over to the house. We all enjoyed laughing and eating dinner. After dinner we all gathered around as we read the Christmas Story from Luke Chapter 2 in the Bible, light our advent wreath, and then sing happy birthday to Jesus. This is a very special time as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas in the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. On New Year's Eve we went to church. After church my brother and his wife come over for a very late supper. We prayed for the New Year and enjoyed the time together.
I am very excited about the upcoming 2009 season. I am really looking forward to playing in Thunder Park at Roscoe. I am excited about the new faces we will have and excited to see many old friends. It's going to be a fun season this year.
Three things you might not know about me: 1.) I saw my first fastpitch game as an eleven year old at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga., and have since played against three of the four National teams I saw play that day; 2.) While at my first pitching lesson with my current coach Cindy Bristow, I met two Gold Medalist, Lisa Fernandez and Shelia Douty. Both of them were members of the 1996 Olympic team; 3.) I once had a life ambition to be a ballerina or tap dancer, but gave it up when even my Grandmother told me I was really bad.
Until the summer, God Bless and Go Thunder!
