Rockford Thunder News Release
After the 2008 Thunder season ended, I went back to the University of Illinois to finish my undergraduate degree. This December I graduated with a degree in Advertising and a minor in Business.
Over Christmas break my family and I went to the most magical place on earth... Disney World! My sister, Brooke, took the fall semester to work at Disney in the college program and it was a great excuse for all of us to go visit for a week. Almost everyone on my mom's side of the family went down and my boyfriend went too... All in all there were 25 of us!
This January I started grad school at the University of Illinois and I am working as a Graduate Assistant with the U of I Athletic Department in Development. So for the next year and a half I will be working on my master's in Sports Management while working for the Development office. School and work are taking up a lot of my time right now, and I'm also training to run my first half-marathon on April 11th on the U of I campus. Without playing college ball, I felt like I needed to do some sort of physical activity that would challenge me. It is also nice to be on campus because I have access to the softball facilities and I can continue to train in the offseason. It's a weird feeling not to be playing in college anymore, which makes me even more excited to get back to Rockford for another season. I think we are going to have a very strong team, and I can't wait to see all of the fans.
A few things you might not know about me: 1) I love reality television. I'm currently hung up on The Biggest Loser, The Bachelor, Amazing Race, and The Real Housewives of Orange County, and 2) Even though I'm not great at it, I love to dance... especially tap dance. I even bought a pair of tap shoes a few years ago but I haven't had time to take a class. So if anyone knows of an adult tap class I can take over the summer, let me know!
See you all in Rockford this summer!!
Sincerely,
Shanna Diller, OF, #33
