Cary Takes Carolina

Cary, NC: Through inside play by Invasion Forward Matt Gwynne, the Invasion took control of the game early at the Herb Young Center in Cary on Saturday night. The home team led 34 - 21 at the end of the first period. The game was back and forth through the second quarter, with the Invasion stretching the lead to as many as 18 points. But Carolina made a run and closed the game to a dozen points by halftime.

The visitors came out ready to play and trailed by just 2 points, 56 - 54, with 8 minutes to go in the third. But that was as close as Carolina would get. Cary blew the game open with a 16 - 0 run highlighted by backcourt steals and multiple dunks by Invasion center Raheem Oshodi (NCCU). The Invasion would stretch the lead to 26 points in the fourth quarter and won the game 108 - 86. Cary out-rebounded Carolina 56 to 41. Daniel Jackson (Shaw) had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Invasion. Scott Draughn had 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Gladiators. Cary maintains first place in the TRBL point standings with the win.
