Kearney, NE. - Tri-City Storm forward Carter Mazur recently announced a commitment to play college hockey at the University of Denver. Mazur is currently Tri-City's leading scorer for the 2020-2021 regular season with nine goals scored in twenty games played.

Carter Mazur, 18, of Jackson, Michigan was drafted 3rd overall in the 1st Round of the 2018 USHL Phase I draft by the Storm and made his USHL debut during the 2018-2019 regular season as an affiliate list callup. Mazur made his USHL debut with Tri-City on November 10th, 2018 in the Storm's 4-2 home win over the Sioux Falls Stampede. He netted his first career USHL goal with the Storm on November 8th, 2019 in Tri-City's 5-2 home win over the Des Moines Buccaneers. Last season, Mazur scored six goals and provided the Storm's offense with seven assists in forty-seven games played. Mazur has scored nine goals and notched eight assists and has also appeared in every game to this point in the 2020-2021 regular season. He has scored three power-play goals this season, the most of any Storm player. Before joining the Storm, Mazur skated for the Little Caesars AAA program in Detroit, Michigan.

"I chose Denver because I love the culture they have there, also how successful they are as a hockey program, which will make me not only a better hockey player but a better person! This program was a perfect fit for me because it is a big-time program in a big-time league, and I am excited for that! I love the coaching staff they have, they are coaches that can relate to the players not only on the ice but also off the ice. They are tremendous people that want the best for me in my hockey development and that is what I wanted in a program. Living in Denver will also be a treat, it is an unbelievable city and the University is second to none. I am so excited to get there and start my journey in the NCHC and play college hockey! College hockey to me is what I have always dreamed about playing ever since I was playing knee hockey in my basement and thinking that I was a college player. It is unbelievable to see that dream come true! Also, it is a great way to get a great education while playing the game that I love the most. I continue to work on every part of my game every day, you cannot just be good at one thing. I believe if you work on every part of your game that is when you grow more as a player." Forward Carter Mazur

"We're happy for Carter and his family for his commitment to the University of Denver. Carter is a guy who embodies everything that we try to represent here in Tri-City. He wears the "C" for us for a reason, he is someone who we are going to look forward to watching play hockey for a really long time."- President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Anthony Noreen
