Carolina Diamonds Pitcher Angel Bunner Named League Rookie Of The Week

June 23, 2012 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) - Carolina Diamonds News Release

SALISBURY - Carolina Diamonds rookie left-handed pitcher Angel Bunner was placed on the National Pro Fastpitch softball league's Rookie Watch presented by Combat Sports after a stellar match-up against Monica Abbott and the Chicago Bandits last weekend.

The former Auburn Tiger started the second game of the four game series and only allowed three hits and one earned run against the Bandits to put her on the league's top rookie list for the second week of play. She went on to allow only seven hits and one earned run in the nine total innings she took to the pitcher's circle over the four game series. Bunner was selected 17th overall by the Diamonds in the NPF 2012 Draft and was one of four Southeastern Conference players selected in this year's draft on top of being the only Auburn representative after leaving the school with 44 wins, a 2.24 ERA and 326 strike outs. The Fairless Hills, Pa. native currently leads the Diamonds with a 3.85 ERA and has an 0-2 record - starting three games, completing two - and making two relief appearances with one save.
