Carlos Knox Named Head Coach Of Pittsburgh Xplosion

September 10, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release

ALBANY, NY (September 10, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association in association with the Pittsburgh Xplosion announced today the hiring of Carlos Knox as their new head coach for the 2007-08 season. Knox replaces former head coach Jaren Jackson, who left the organization to pursue other professional opportunities.

Knox brings CBA head coaching experience to the Xplosion. Last year, he led the Indiana Alley Cats to a 23-25 record in his first season. The Alley Cats have suspended operations for the 2007-08 season.

"We feel that Carlos will be an asset to the organization," Xplosion CEO Richard Hersperger said. "He will do an excellent job in preparing our players for the challenges of the CBA season."

The Xplosion will turn to Knox to improve upon a 10-38 record in the team's inaugural season in the CBA.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to coach the Xplosion," Knox said. "Pittsburgh has the atmosphere and the facilities to compete and win in the CBA. It's now about establishing a foundation and a winning attitude."

Knox began his coaching career at IUPUI in 2001 and helped lead his alma mater to its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2003 as an assistant. In 2005-06, Knox was an Alley Cats' assistant as the team went 28-4 in the ABA.

As a player, Knox became the most prolific player in IUPUI history. He holds the school's career records for points, points-per-game and steals. He played professionally in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers and internationally in Croatia, Germany and Venezuela, before suffering a career-ending knee injury.

The Xplosion's second CBA season tips off November 16 against East Kentucky. Season tickets are now on sale. For more information call 877-410-9900 or visit the Xplosion online at www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
