New Jersey Jackals News Release
Gaetano Giunta and Bryan Sabatella singled and scored in the first, which was all the scoring the Jackals needed. Starter Kyle Greenwalt and his bullpen combined to allow one run, topping the Wichita Wingnuts 5-1 in the opening game of the three-game set.
The Jackals have scored first in all five games this season, winning four, and three in a row. With Newark dormant and Quebec losing to Rockland, the Jackals obtain first place in the Can-Am standings.
Jackals' starter Kyle Greenwalt's only blemish was a solo home run to 2B Jared McDonald with one out in the sixth. The Jackals bullpen took over and threw 3.2 scoreless innings. They have not allowed a run in the past 13.2 innings.
Francisco Carraballo was 3-5 with a home run. He's five for his last nine and has recorded an RBI in five of his last nine plate appearances.
Tomorrow the Jackals send ace Isaac Pavlik (1-0, 3.60 ERA) to the mound. He's three wins away from tying Joel Bennett (59) for the most in team history. The Wingnuts will counter with Derek Blacksher (1-0, 1.80 ERA).
