The Whitecaps continue their 2007 pre-season this weekend when they play a pair of games on Saturday, March 31st against University of Washington at Holly Park Field, Ladner at 2 p.m., and on Sunday, April 1st against University of British Columbia (UBC) at UBC's Thunderbird Stadium, Vancouver at 3:00 p.m.

The Whitecaps got off to a roaring start to their pre-season last Tuesday, when they defeated the Fraser Valley Soccer League All-Stars 7-1. Over 500 energetic fans were on hand to watch the Whitecaps jump to a 2-0 lead after just four minutes into what was the Caps' first game since their 2006 USL-1 championship title run. Substitute goalkeeper Shawn McDonell made an incredible diving stop in his Whitecaps debut, while forwards Marty Johnston tallied a marker and Adam Day had an impressive debut, scoring on a penalty kick and setting up Johnston's goal.

The University of Washington has already played three spring matches, defeating the U of Washington Alumni 6-0, Trinity Western 5-1, while drawing with UBC 1-1. Junior forward Kevin Forrest, the 2006 Pac-10 Player of the Year, has tallied five goals in the three games thus far.

UBC recently took part in an exhibition competition this month against the University of Washington Huskies and the University of Portland Pilots, two of the strongest soccer programs in the NCAA. UBC finished the tournament with a pair of impressive draws. Whitecaps goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic is a member of the UBC men's soccer team and will suit up for the Thunderbirds against his professional club.
