CapCity Cup Cancelled

June 17, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA - Ottawa Fury FC announced on Monday that the 2019 edition of the CapCity Cup, scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, between Fury FC and the Montreal Impact, has been cancelled.

"We were looking forward to facing the Montreal Impact again and take a shot at winning our CapCity Cup this year," offered Fury FC General Manager Julian de Guzman. "All avenues were considered and we explored all possible options to make sure both clubs would have a sufficient number of players to dress, but we were unable to come up with an acceptable solution and came to the mutual decision to cancel the match. While we are disappointed to have to cancel this year's edition, we felt that the end product on the field would not have reflected what our fans have come to expect from Fury FC."

"We value the support of our soccer community and will continue to work with our local clubs to provide opportunities to engage with our players and, when possible, participate in training within our professional environment," added de Guzman. "To the local players that were about to dress with us for the first time, we thank you for your commitment and look forward to continuing working with you."

Both Fury FC and Montreal Impact have busy schedules for the remainder of their respective season, which made a rescheduling of the event impossible. Fury FC remains committed to hosting the CapCity Cup and look forward to welcoming fans for future editions.

CapCity Cup ticket holders will be offered the opportunity to exchange their tickets for an upcoming Fury FC match as the club continues its fight for a USL Championship playoff spot. Refunds will also be available. Ticket holders should expect to receive all details per email or can communicate with their ticket representative for more information.

Fury FC, now unbeaten in its last eight consecutive matches, heads out on the road this weekend to face Nashville SC before returning to TD Place on Wednesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. Tickets for this upcoming match, as well as the rest of the season, including Ottawa's match against Halifax in the Canadian Championship, are available at OttawaFuryFC.com.
