
Cannons Win Fourth of July Thriller 17-13

BOSTON, MA (July 4th, 2014) - The Boston Cannons (5-5) defeated the Denver Outlaws (7-3) at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver to give the Outlaws their first home loss in over two years. With the win, the Cannons get back to .500 and keep their playoff hope alive in fourth place.
Will Manny led the Cannons with 3 goals and an assist alongside 9 other Cannons players who added goals. Boston rookie Rob Emery grabbed 4 goals on the night, and was awarded the Coca Cola Player of the Game for his career high performance.
Emery began the scoring for Boston on the night in the first quarter. Cannons added five goals on five shots in the first.
The teams went back and forth trading goals for a majority of the game. The Outlaws scored the next goal before Boston responded with tow. Both teams added back to back goals before Will Manny scored two goals before the quarter ended and the Cannons had the 5-4 lead.
In the second quarter, Denver added two quick goals before the Cannons responded with a 3-0 run and giving them the 8-6 lead heading into the half.
Sieverts completed his hattrick for Denver in the third quarter to start things off. Both teams then traded goals to finish the quarter and Boston held the 12-12 advantage.
Boston lit up the fourth quarter scoring five goals in the final frame to close out the game 17-13. Jordan Burke finished the game with 13 saves while Chris Eck finished 21 for 32 at the Faceoff. This marks the first lost at home for Denver in 762 days.
The Cannons return back to Harvard Stadium next to take on the NY Lizards on July 19th at 6:00pm.

-29,718 fans attended the annual fourth of July game in Denver, the third highest attendance in MLL History.
-Boston Defenseman Brodie Merrill scored his fourth goal of the season.
-Boston finished with 31 groundballs, a decided advantage over Denver's 23 groundballs.
-Boston's Rob Emery was named the Coca-Cola Player of the Game.
