Cannons Too Much Firepower For Dragons, 22-14

San Jose, CA - Attackman Mikey Powell had eight points (five goals and three assists) to lead the visiting Boston Cannons over the San Francisco Dragons at Spartan Stadium in Major League Lacrosse action Saturday night. Powell was named Bud Light MVP of the game. The Cannons improve to 4-2, while the Dragons fall to 1-5.

Cannons Midfielder Paul Rabil had 6 points (4 goal and 1 2pt goal) in the game. Former Dragon attackman Tom Zummo made his return to the Bay Area, striking early and often, finishing the night with five goals on six shots. Another former Dragon attackman, Matt Alrich, also added a goal and an assist for Boston in his return. Midfielder Matt Poskay netted four goals as well.

For San Francisco, Lewis Ratcliff led the way with five points (four goals and one assists). Rookies Brendan Loftus (two goals, one assist) and Matt Lalli (one goal and three assists) pitched in for the Dragons. Midfielder Bill McGlone, acquired midweek in a trade with Washington, made his debut for the Dragons, recording three points (two goals and one assist).

The Dragons were down 14 - 5 at half-time and fought back to outscore the Cannons 9-8 in the 2nd half.

Boston will return home to face the Barrage (4-3) on Thursday, July 3rd, while the Dragons will hit the road to take on the Denver Outlaws (5-1) on Friday from the Mile High City. The game will be televised on ESPN2 on July 8 at 12:30 pm PT.
