Boston Cannons News Release

Boston, MA - The Boston Cannons raised more than $120,000 to benefit cancer research during the team's inaugural "Cannons Fighting Cancer" initiative on June 23 at Harvard Stadium. Uniting the lacrosse, medical and research communities, Cannons Fighting Cancer partnered with The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) and its Play4theCureTM platform as the primary beneficiary for this special game night.

The goal of Cannons Fighting Cancer was to bring the lacrosse community together to raise funds and awareness for philanthropic and research organizations that are focused on finding a cure for cancer and providing services, support and care for individuals and families who are impacted by the disease. The Cannons honored members of the Greater Boston medical, science, philanthropic, survivor and lacrosse communities for their continuous efforts in the fight against cancer.

"This was a special night for our organization, our fans and the greater lacrosse community to step up and make a difference in the fight against cancer," said President of the Boston Cannons, Ian Frenette. "It was inspiring to hear the stories of all our honorees and recognize them on the field. The National Foundation for Cancer Research is a remarkable beneficiary and all of the funds raised through Cannons Fighting Cancer will go directly toward researching a cure."

Members of the New England lacrosse community helped to raise funds for Cannons Fighting Cancer through NFCR's Play4theCureTM initiative.
