Boston Cannons News Release
BOSTON (August 8, 2014) - Members of the Boston Cannons are going head-to-head versus childhood cancers. Initially, the fundraising effort included five of their players and one coach who engaged in a seven-week competition to see who could raise the most money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research . After the fundraiser caught wind of Cannons owner Rob Hale, he wanted to include Cannons fans and has offered to donate $1,000 for every Cannons fan that shaves their head Saturday night prior to the Cannons regular season finale at Harvard Stadium.
Supercuts will be in the Fan Zone before the game from 5pm-7pm to shave the heads of fans, while 98.5 the Sports Hub will be emceeing the event. At the conclusion of the Cannon's regular season finale, five players and head Coach John Tucker will then shave their heads on the field and get bald to stand in solidarity with kids with cancer.
Jack Reid, Matt Smalley, Jordan Burke, Brodie Merrill, Eric Hag arty and head coach John Tucker began the initiative, which then grew to friends and fans and have already raised $15,366 of their $25,000 goal . Donations can be made at: http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/BostonCannons
