Chicago, IL - The Boston Cannons fall to the Chicago Machine 19-18 after a last second goal by former Cannon attackman Kevin Leveille. The loss drops the Cannons to 4 and 5 on the season and marks just the second win in Machine franchise history. Leveille led the way for Chicago with 5 total goals on his way to earning Bud Light MVP honors.

"This game was incredibly frustrating for us," said Bill Daye, Cannons head coach. "Plain and simple we just didn't execute when we needed to. This one is going to bother me for a long time."

Making his MLL debut Cannons goalie Kip Turner made two big saves down the stretch. However after the second stop the ball was loose in front of the net and eventually popped up in midair inside the crease. Leveille was able to dive and tip it home for the game winning score with 20 seconds remaining.

"Kip made two big saves for us there," said Daye. "But you have to give the Machine credit they fought for that last groundball and got the goal."

The Cannons were down two 1:06 into the fourth quarter. Boston then rattled off three unanswered goals by John Christmas, Mikey Powell and David Mitchell to take their first lead since the early second quarter.

The Machine responded with two straight goals of their own by Sean Morris and Leveille to take a one goal lead. Boston the tied it on a Powell tally.

The teams then played almost eight minutes of scoreless lacrosse before the Leveille game winner.

The Cannons jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first quarter chasing Machine starting goaltender Harry Alford from the game. He was replaced by Mike Gabel who provided a spark between the pipes for Chicago.

Powell led the way for the Cannons with 5 points on 3 goals and 2 assists. Mitchell recorded a career-high 4 goals for Boston. Christmas had a hat trick and registered an assist.

The Cannons play next at home on Thursday July 19 at 7:00PM at Harvard Stadium.
