
Cannons Fall in Season Finale

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Cannons needed a victory and an Ohio Machine loss to advance to the playoffs but fell short in their contest against the Rattlers. The Cannons season did not end on a completely negative note as many members of the team shaved their heads as they stood up to childhood cancer post game after thanking a crowd of 9,281.
The Cannons started the game off on the right foot scoring the first goal when Matt Striebel put the ball in the back of the net just 62 seconds into the game. Rochester then ended the first quarter scoring five consecutive goals, two by Miles Thompson, two from Jordan Wolf and a goal from Dave Lawson.
The Rattlers continued the second quarter as they ended the first, scoring another goal before the Cannons finally responded. Stephen Berger took pulled the Cannons to within 6 when he scored the only goal of the 2nd quarter. Rochester then scored five consecutive goals for the second time in the game and ended the half winning 12-2.
Miles Thompson scored to start off the second half but the cannons quickly responded less than a minute later when Rob Emery scored after being assisted by Kevin Buchanan. Stephen Berger scored just two minutes later on an unassisted goal. The Rattlers scored again and went into the final quarter leading by 10 goals, 14-4.
Rochester started off the scoring when Mark Cockerton scored just two minutes into the final quarter. Boston responded three minutes later when Ryan Boyle scored an unassisted goal. Stephen Berger scored two minutes later when he was assisted by Ryan Boyle. The Cannons scored the final two games when Matt Striebel and Mitch Belisle scored the final goal of the Cannons season.
After the game, the Cannons honored their players with final team awards. Brent Adams was named 11th man, Paul Rabil was named the team MVP, Will Manny was named Offensive Player of the Year, and Brodie Merrill was the Defensive Player of the year.
The Cannons would like to thank all their fans for an incredible season. We hope to be back stronger than ever next year.
