Boston Cannons News Release

BOSTON, MA (October 7, 2015) - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced Wednesday that the club has hired Ian Frenette as its new President. As part of his new position with the Cannons, Frenette will oversee the day-to-day running of the team's front office while leading the club's corporate sponsorship and sales efforts. Frenette will also oversee all business operations for the Cannons.

"We are very grateful to have Ian join our team at the Boston Cannons," Majority Owner Rob Hale said. "I have worked with Ian in the past and I am always impressed with his work ethic and leadership skills and I am confident he will bring success to the Cannons immediately."

Frenette has a proven and impressive track record with business success in professional sports. He joins the Cannons after 6 seasons with the Boston Celtics where he served as the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, overseeing new business sales for the Celtics Corporate Partnership division.

Prior to joining the Celtics, Ian spent 6 years at IMG as a Sales Director in the IMG Golf Division, sold IMG's Global Golf assets (players/events/media), and helped to build the Deutsche Bank Championship.

"I am very excited to be joining the Boston Cannons organization as Team President," said Frenette. "As a founding member of the MLL, the Cannons have been a leader in the MLL both on and off the field. I'm excited about the opportunity to lead and make an impact on the continued growth of the Cannons business and Major League Lacrosse."

Frenette graduated from Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia) in 2000 and he earned a Master's Degree in Sport Management from Springfield College in 2003.

Frenette is also active in the community as an executive member of Bottom Line's Executive Leadership Committee. Bottom Line is a nationally recognized, steadily growing non-profit organization helping students get in to college and successfully graduate.

Kevin Barney will continue as General Manager and oversee team operations. The Cannons will announce their protected roster this week and season tickets for the 2016 season will go on sale soon.
