
Cannons Add Matt Light as Keynote Speaker at First Annual Coaches Symposium

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston Cannons of the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) to host first annual Coaches Symposium during training camp on Sunday, April 3 at Endicott College. Coaches will observe Cannons practice, learn from professionals from throughout the sports industry in classroom sessions and get inside tips and instruction from Cannons players on the field. Kicking off the event will be a keynote speech from former New England Patriot and three-time Super Bowl Champion Matt Light.
"We're excited to announce this new program that will create a unique and intimate educational opportunity for lacrosse coaches throughout New England," said Cannons President Ian Frenette. "Our symposium will provide unheralded access to the Cannons coaching staff, players and medical staff in both classroom and field settings during our Training Camp Weekend."
Open to all levels of coaching, this unique event is limited to 200 coaches. The event will foster the opportunity to network and learn from all Cannons coaches, players, and lacrosse professionals. The event will allow coaches special and exclusive insight to enhance their coaching knowledge and game among New England coaches and the Boston Cannons team.
"The Cannons are committed to giving back to the lacrosse community," said Cannons Head Coach Sean Quirk. "As our sport continues to grow, education and empowering coaches is vital to the continued growth. My coaching staff and players have a vast knowledge of not only playing the game, but are also college, high school and club team coaches themselves."
The Cannons coaching staff has a combined 55 years of college coaching experience and current Cannons players are on the coaching staffs at Harvard, Endicott, West Point, Yale, Wagner and Quinnipiac. Featured presenters include Boston Cannons Head Coach, Sean Quirk, Team Doctor, Dr. Thomas Gill, team nutritionist Julie Nicoletti of Kinetic Fuel, Krossover (game film breakdown and analytics), and the Official Athletic Training Facility of the Boston Cannons, Stadium Performance.
Coaches will choose from a variety of seminars in the classroom and on the playing field to attend. Throughout the day there will be different skill topics and experience based curriculums to fit the novice coach to the seasoned veteran of the sidelines.
Classroom lecture topics range from beginner practice & game plans, advanced offensive techniques, Krossover film breakdown, equipment manufacturing, college recruiting panels, and building a town program. On field lectures will include fundamentals, practice, and game plans, riding, transition & clearing, man up clearing and man down defense, goalie and face off techniques.
A reception sponsored by Keel Vodka will cap off the day, where coaches can mingle with Cannons coaches and players. Each coach in attendance will receive a gift bag at the check-in that includes a Cannons polo and sideline hat.

Registration Opens: 8:00am
Cannons Practice: 8:30 - 10:00 A.M. (continental breakfast at field)
Brunch: 10:15 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
Welcome & Keynote Speaker - 10:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
Field/Classroom Sessions: 11:00 A.M. - 3:45 P.M.
Cocktail Reception: 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.
