Cane Cutters Win Big

Acadiana got another winning streak started Thursday night following a 9-3 victory in Driller Park for the first game of a two-game against the East Texas Pump Jacks. The win came one night after the Cane Cutters won the second game of a 1-1 split versus the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field. The East Texas Pump Jacks took the first game in Victoria Tuesday before a rainout cut their series with the Generals short. The win improved the Cane Cutters' second half record to 9-2, which leads the Texas Collegiate League by two games over the 7-4 Bombers.

The Cane Cutters scored nine runs as multiple hitters came through with RBIs throughout the game. Acadiana got 3 runs in the second inning, 2 of which came in on a Chance Vincent two out RBI single, giving the Cane Cutters a 3-2 lead. Vincent finished the night 2 for 5 and added 2 RBIs. Jordie Hein also had 2 RBIs, finishing the night 1 for 3 with a run scored. Connor Barron came through with a solo shot, his 4th homer of the season, all if which have come in his last 8 games. Five Cane Cutters came through with one RBI, including Barron, coming on a total of 15 hits. Barron, Vincent, Jace Statum, and Nate Pugh each had 2 hits, Kyle Cedotal had 3, and the rest of the lineup had one hit each. Freddy Prince got the win after coming in relief of Kaleb Fontenot, going 5 2/3 innings, giving just 1 hit and striking out 3 Pump Jacks.

The Cane Cutters will play one more game in Driller Park against the Pump Jacks before returning to Fabacher Field to face the Texas Marshals. During Saturday's game, the Cane Cutters will host the first ever Roaring 20's Night at the field. Roaring 20's Night will include 20's style public address announcements, music, pictures, press releases, and more!
