Cane Cutters Defeat Texas Marshals in Extra Innings
June 13, 2016 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
It was all pitching tonight in the game between the Acadiana Cane Cutters and the Texas Marshals, as the Cane Cutters picked up the 1-0 win in extra innings.
There was no score at the end of nine innings, but it changed quickly at the top of the 10th. Although the Cane Cutters had no hits in the 10th, three walks loaded the bases for Acadiana.
With Jaylon Keys of Meridian Community College at the plate, Acadiana just needed one more walk or a base hit to bring a man home for the go-ahead run. With Jordan Reynolds at the mound for the Marshals, four straight balls gave the Cane Cutters the 1-0 lead.
Texas was unable to respond at the bottom of the 10th and the Cane Cutters picked up their 10th win of the season.
Cane Cutters head coach Austin Flores said he was proud of his pitchers tonight.
"Our pitchers were unbelievable tonight," Flores said. "They amaze me night-in and night-out."
The Cane Cutters will get three days of rest before returning to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday, against the Brazos Valley Bombers at home.
