
Cane Cutters Claim Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Texarkana Twins

The Cane Cutters took the lead late but defeated the Texarkana Twins 12-9 on Friday. The game was tied at nine with the Cane Cutters batting in the bottom of the sixth when Tyler Thibodeaux (NSU) singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Cane Cutters opened up an early lead in the second inning when Alex Hannie (ULL) drew a walk, scoring one run. Making the score 6-5, by the end of the inning the Cane Cutters scored another run and increased the lead by two.
After Texarkana Twins scored one run in the top of the fifth, the Cane Cutters answered with one of their own.
Texarkana Twins scored when Hunter Stafford (DSU) induced Reese Durand to hit into a fielder's choice. The Cane Cutters then answered when Fisher Norris (USM) singled on a 0-1 count to earn the run back.
The Cane Cutters took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Champ Artigues (SELA) singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Then Ryan Carr (ND) drew a walk which scored another run.
 Trace Henry(ULM), Artigues(SELA), Hannie(ULL), and Zavier Moore (SU)powered the Cane Cutters huge 2nd inning with RBIs.
Stafford (DSU) was credited with the victory for the Cane Cutters. He allowed two hits and three runs over two innings, striking out one. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Noah Hughes (USM), Kris Peet(DSU), Reed Spenrath(Texas A&M), and Bryson Broussard (LSUA) all securing outs and ultimately the victory. Peet (DSU) recorded the last three outs to earn his 3rd save in as many days for the Cane Cutters.
Ram Maldanado took the loss for Texarkana Twins. He lasted two innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one.
The Cane Cutters collected 13 hits. Henry(ULM), Carr(ND), Norris(USM), Artigues(SELA), and Tremaine Spears(ULL) each racked up multiple hits for Cane Cutters. Henry(ULM) went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cane Cutters in hits, scored five runs, had one RBI and worked two walks to earn himself the Powerade player of the game honor.
