Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
The Acadiana Cane Cutters used a strikeout/pass ball to start a three-run rally in the 8th inning to help beat the Brazos Valley Bombers, 3-1 in front of a packed house at Fabacher Field Tuesday night.
It was a pitching duel between Wilmer Nunez of the Cane Cutters and Brett Seaburger of the Bombers.
Nunez tossed seven shutout innings, but had to settle for a no-decision.
The Cane Cutters got a fortunate break in the 8th inning when Dylan Hardy struck out, but got aboard with a pass ball. A batter later, Cobie Vance would chop an infield single to score Hardy from third base to give Acadiana a 1-0 lead. Then the Cutters scored on a balk call followed by an RBI grounded from Trenton Buchhorn to extend the Acadiana lead to 3-0.
Zac Rogers would pitch the 8th and have some trouble in the 9th, but was able to get out of the jam with only allowing one run to get the win.
The Cane Cutters will take on the Victoria Generals tomorrow night for the start of a two-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
