Cancer the battle of his life off the field
Lincoln Ne - - Lincoln Northeast assistant coach and Lincoln Capitols wide receiver Mike Dixon is facing the biggest battle of his life right now. Dixon has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. He has already undergone two surgeries and is in the process of chemotherapy treatments.
Even through the treatments and fatigue that comes with the chemotherapy, you can still find Dixon on the football field helping coach the Rockets of Lincoln Northeast.
"I'm still going to work and be at the practices I can make it to," Dixon stated. He also states, "This is going to slow me down but is not going to stop me from doing the things that I love to do; and that is playing and coaching football."
The Lincoln Capitols are planning a golf tournament for Dixon to raise money to help defray the cost of medical bills. The tournament has been set for October 16 at Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln. For more details, please call Dawn at 402-601-5588.
