Canary Comeback Falls Short

Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
Geneva, IL - The Sioux Falls Canaries rallied late but came up short on Friday, falling to defending champion Kane County 7-6 at Northwestern Medicine Field.
The Cougars scored three times in the first inning and never trailed. The Birds got a run back in the top of the second when Anthony Sharkas tripled with one out and scored on a double from TJ Racherbaumer. But Kane County answered with two runs in their half of the third.
The two teams traded RBI doubles in the fourth inning with Grady Mee driving in Sharkas in the top half. The Cougars added another run via sacrifice groundout in the bottom of the sixth to build their largest lead at 7-2.
Sioux Falls fought back with a two-run single from Joe Vos in the seventh inning. Michael Curialle smacked an RBI single in the top of the eighth and Anthony Hall cut the deficit to one with a sacrifice fly.
Vos drew a leadoff walk to start the ninth inning and got to third base with two outs but that's as close as the Birds would get.
Hall finished 3-3 while Curialle and Mee each added two hits. The Canaries (36-30) will look to even the series Saturday at 6:30pm.
