Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA - Ottawa Fury FC bolstered their Canadian flavour once more as the club announced on Monday the signing of defensive-minded, left-footed player Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé (Jay-ray-MEE Ga-Nioh Lah-pah-RAY), pending league and federation approval.

"Jérémy is a young Canadian player we've been keeping our eyes on, and are excited to bring to Ottawa," said Julian de Guzman, General Manager of Ottawa Fury FC. "He is a hard worker that will fit well with our club culture, and the style of player we need to add depth and options to maintain a strong defensive core."

A familiar face to Fury FC fans since he spent time on loan in Ottawa in 2015, Gagnon-Laparé has spent the past year in France's Championnat National 2 with AS Vitré. He had previously spent the 2016 season with FC Montreal, the then USL affiliate of the Montreal Impact in MLS, with whom he had signed his first professional contract in July of 2014. A young promising talent, he has already played over 75 matches in the professional ranks, including seven appearances in MLS, two in CONCACAF Champions League, and 29 in USL.

A native of Sherbrooke, QC, the 23-year-old has also represented Canada at the youth level, his most recent call-up being in May 2016 for a Men's U-23 Caribbean Tour. He has also represented Canada at the Pan American Games in 2015, and has earned five appearances with the senior National Team program to date.

A versatile addition to the formation, Gagnon-Laparé will bring depth and experience to the left wing for Fury FC. A defensive-midfielder by trade, Gagnon-Laparé has also the speed and agility to provide attacking support as a left-back.

With this latest signing, Fury FC's Canadian ratio reaches an impressive 65% (17 of 26). For a complete look at the roster, visit OttawaFuryFC.com.
