Can You Dream up a Logo to Celebrate Jacks Anniversary"
February 15, 2012 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
East Texas PumpJacks News Release
When the Texas Collegiate League arrived at historic Driller Park in 2008, the organization invited fans to come up with a nickname in the "Name Your Team" contest. Hundreds of suggestions later, the East Texas Pump Jacks were born.
The Pump Jacks are again looking to their fans, announcing today a contest to design a logo commemorating the team's fifth anniversary season.
"Our fans did such a great job with the name, so we knew where to turn for creative inspiration for our fifth anniversary," general manager Mike Lieberman said.
"As head coach Ben Taylor always reminds me, we have the best fans in the TCL right here. I'm sure Pump Jacks Nation will do us proud."
The team will be accepting entries submitted by anyone, from casual fans to professional graphic designers. Aspiring artists are strongly encouraged participate, since the winner and his or her artwork will enjoy publicity throughout the industry.
"This is a great way to make a name for yourself in graphic or logo design," Lieberman said. "The winner will be publicized nationally through press releases and the team's web site. Players and fans across the country will see the logo you designed."
The Pump Jacks will promote the winning designer to professionals throughout the industry, from other Texas Collegiate League teams all the way to the major leagues. The team will also notify both local and industry media, including respected publications like Baseball America and industry websites such as BallparkBiz.com and OurSportsCentral.com.
The winner will enjoy more than publicity, though. The best designer will also receive an authentic Pump Jacks jersey, exactly like the ones worn by players. These jerseys are not available for purchase, so only a precious few have the privilege of owning them. The winner will also receive a T-shirt featuring the selected fifth anniversary mark.
The team is looking for a creative logo which chiefly communicates that the 2012 season celebrates the franchise's fifth anniversary. Designers are encouraged to be creative while maintaining the look and feel the organization has worn proudly for the last four years. Designers may use the familiar "Pump Jacks" text and the Boomer and Derrick mascot logos fans have come to love. Designers can find inspiration in the current Pump Jacks logos.
Fans and designers should submit any logs and artwork by February 29. The team will review all entries and announce the winner in early March.
All artwork should be in digital form and sent to the team at contest@pumpjacksbaseball.com. If the artwork files are too large to e-mail, please send the team an e-mail and alternative means of delivery will be arranged. All submissions become the property of the Pump Jacks.
Season tickets for the Pump Jacks' fifth anniversary season are currently on sale. Lower Box seats, which include in-you-seat wait service, are just $199 each, and Upper Box seats are $150. Grandstand season tickets are $105 for adults and $85 for children and seniors.
