New Jersey 8, Trois-Rivieres 6 (Series tied, 1-1)
The New Jersey Jackals scored five runs over the last two innings to rally back from a 6-3 deficit and defeat the Trois-Rivieres Aigles in game two of the Can-Am League Championship Series, 8-6. The series is now tied at 1-1 with game three tomorrow night at Yogi Berra Stadium.
New Jersey would get things started with a run in the top of the first inning. After two men were out, DH AJ Kirby-Jones doubled and came around to score on a single from RF Leandro Castro. Castro then helped bring in another run in the third as he doubled home 2B Anthony Gomez to make it 2-0 Jackals.
Trois-Rivieres came right back in the bottom of the frame with a run on a sacrifice fly by RF Javier Herrera. The Aigles would then tack on three more runs in the fifth inning on a Herrera two-run single and a 2B Jose Cuevas RBI single.
New Jersey tallied a run in the sixth while Trois-Rivieres plated a pair of runs in the seventh to make it 6-3 Aigles. After that it was all Jackals as they scored three runs in the eighth on a single from CF Dvontrey Richardson and a two-RBI single from SS Peter Mooney and then two more in the ninth on a double from LF Matt Helms. Trois-Rivieres tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the ninth but came up short.
Castro and Helms each had four hits in the contest while combining for three runs scored and five RBI. Jackals' pitcher Alex Powers notched the win as he tossed an inning of scoreless relief.
