Sussex County 4, Ottawa 2 - Box Score
Sussex County jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2 ½ innings of play and would go on from there to defeat Ottawa, 4-2.
Miners starting pitcher Andrew Gist tossed six solid innings en route to the big victory. The lefty gave up two earned runs on six hits and struck out six batters. The bullpen for Sussex County was terrific as well as Kevin Grendell, Jose Jose and Ryan Newell combined to throw three shutout innings with a pair of hits and six strikeouts. Gist earned the win and is now 5-1 while Newell notched his ninth save.
Offensively for the Miners, LF Jose Brizuela and RF Brandon Downes each collected a hit and a run in three official at-bats while 1B Audy Ciriaco had a 2-for-4 night. Sussex County tallied only five hits in the contest and was aided by four Champion errors.
For Ottawa in the loss, C Larry Balkwill launched a solo home run, his first of the year.
Quebec 12, Rockland 6 - Box Score
Quebec tallied five runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-4 lead and would cruise from there to double up Rockland by the score of 12-6.
The Capitales pounded out 13 hits in the contest with five batters having multi-hit games. Quebec 2B TJ White led the way going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run and seven RBIs. Capitales SS Brandon Fischer scored two runs and drove in one in a 2-for-6 outing while CF David Salgueiro and 1B Daniel Dominguez combined for five hits, six runs and an RBI.
Quebec pitcher Reilly Hovis threw two innings of relief and grabbed the win in his first outing with the team. Hovis gave up an unearned run on two hits and fanned two batters.
Center fielder Chase Harris had a 3-for-4 night with a home run, three runs scored and an RBI in the loss for the Boulders.
Trois-Rivieres 10, New Jersey 5 - Box Score
Trois-Rivieres tallied nine runs over their last three trips to the plate and beat New Jersey by a 10-5 final. The Aigles trailed 4-1 after 5 ½ innings of play before scoring four runs in the sixth, four in the seventh and one more in the eighth to win going away.
There were 10 hits collected by Trois-Rivieres tonight with RF Alberth Martinez leading the way going 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Aigles 1B Juan Kelly had three hits in four at-bats along with two runs and an RBI while PH/CF Raphael Gladu launched a three-run home run and drove in four runs.
Trois-Rivieres pitcher Bubby Rossman tossed an inning of scoreless relief and notched the win. The righty gave up a hit and two walks while fanning three in the six batters he faced. With the victory, Rossman is now 2-0 on the season.
For the Jackals in the losing cause, 3B Conrad Gregor had a two-hit game, including a home run, with three RBIs.
