Can-Am League Game Recap
Published on July 26, 2012 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Quebec 5, Winnipeg 0
The Goldeyes could not find an answer for Quebec DH Rene Leveret or 1B Josue Peley, and the Capitales' top bats were ultimately Winnipeg's undoing. Leveret went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, as Quebec beat Winnipeg 5-0 out west. Peley also had four hits and an RBI to help the Capitales sweep their cross-country, interleague rivals three games to none.
Leveret got the Capitales on the board in the first with an RBI single. Three innings later, he doubled to center field and came around to score when Peley followed up with a double of his own. Leveret struck again with another RBI single in Quebec's big, three-run seventh inning.
Quebec starter Jeff Duda pitched brilliantly as usual, going seven innings and striking out nine Goldeyes. Duda, who was named the Can-Am League's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Month in June, allowed just six hits and did not walk a batter in the effort. The right-hander propelled himself into sole possession of the Can-Am league lead for wins with his 10th of the year. He is still undefeated and also leads the Can-Am pack in ERA and strikeouts.
