Published on September 21, 2004 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Durham, N.C. -- For the third straight season, Campanelli Stadium, the home of the Brockton Rox, was selected by the managers and members of the media as the Northeast League's Best Playing Field. Brockton has taken home three major awards this postseason with Kris Zacuto earning Rookie Player of the Year honors on September 8 and David Sacchetti being named General Manager of the Year on September 17.
This year, Campanelli Stadium saw a league-record 203,094 fans pass through its turnstiles and averaged 3,982 people at each of its 51 home games. Among the promotions that drew patrons to the ballpark were Silent Night, where the stadium was quiet until the sixth inning, Grandstand Manager Day, where the fans made the decisions, and Bobblection 2004, where the fans picked their favorite presidential candidate's bobble-head doll. This marked the third consecutive season that attendance has risen at Campanelli Stadium, which boasts a capacity of 4,750 seats.
Campanelli Stadium opened in 2002 when the Rox began their initial season in the NEL. It is one of the bigger stadiums in the league, stretching 320 feet down the lines and 404 to center, while the left-center field wall is 410 feet away. The stadium is named for Alfred Campanelli, a successful businessman whose company has developed more than 14 million square feet of Massachusetts land.
